Preventing Roof Waste with a Roof Restoration

THE BEST WAY TO PREVENT ROOF WASTE

Man preventing roof waste with Rodd Roofing

When a roof is replaced, the old one must either be recycled (much less common)or discarded . This is unfortunate, especially considering the size of the roof, as it means that countless tons of garbage will end up in our landfills or recycling facilities. Is this how it must be? Can roof waste be avoided? How can we make that environmental-friendly?

Use the Materials in Place

Never tearing off your roof is the simplest method to avoid waste. There are three methods for doing this.

1. Construct an everlasting roofing system (impossible).

2. Add an additional roof on top of the existing one (can only do this once).

3. Cover the current roof with a liquid-applied silicone membrane (can do this indefinitely).

It is obvious that one of these choices is better than the other two. Your roof can be renewed, repaired for the future, and kept from being torn off indefinitely with a silicone coating.

How Long Does Silicone Last?

The thicker the silicone coating is put, the longer it will endure. A roof that is 35–40 mils thick when erected will last about 20 years. However, this does not obligate you to remove the roof after 20 years. Simply add another layer of silicone to refresh the initial silicone coating when it needs to be changed. 20 more years are yours. Install a new layer when the current one becomes worn. another 20 years. As long as the building and roof continue to be stable, you can repeat this process. Once a silicone coating is applied, the building itself will probably require upgrades before the roof.

Saving Money and the Environment

You are not only assisting the environment when you reduce tear-off from your roofing installation. The cost of labor to remove the roof, dumpster rental, and landfill fees are no longer necessary. The cost of adding a new roof on top of the one you just removed is not required. Nowadays, there are very few choices that are both healthy for you and the environment. One of them is silicone. You won't regret using a silicone coating to prevent roof waste.
